Local boys the Whiskey Thieves are back at their hometown venue, Steiners Tavern, tonight, July 23, for a 10 p.m. show. The boys have been wrapping up their latest album, recorded at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, over the last couple months and are looking forward to releasing it in the coming months. The band has also landed a slot at this years Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival, to be held the weekend of Sept. 25 – 26. Look for some new songs at tonights show and the usual favorites as well. There is no cover for the show. Saturday, July 24, brings in the DJ sounds of DJ XXXenos for a night of dance music, also at 10 p.m.
The Plaza Bistro has the vocal sounds of Pamela Rose tonight, July 23, with Wayne De La Cruz on the Hammond B-3 organ, Sonya Jason on saxophone and Kent Bryson on drums. The show kicks off at 7 p.m. and there is no cover.
If you happen to miss Wayne De La Cruz at Fridays show, you can catch him tickling the ivories at the Lodge at Sonoma in the lounge on Saturday, July 24, for a 7 p.m. slot.
Murphy’s Irish Pub will have the bluegrass sounds of the David Thom band tonight, July 23, for an 8 p.m. show. The band plays traditional bluegrass and does it in traditional style, all gathering around one microphone and stepping up when it’s their turn for a solo. Saturday, July 24, brings in Dr. Elmo and Wild Blue. The band also plays bluegrass and if you didn’t hear your favorite on Friday night, then Saturday might just be your night, as the band claims to play “all the bluegrass songs other bands refuse to play.” That show is also at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 25, brings in the local duo of Sean Carscadden and Marty O’Reilly. The guys are quickly becoming one of the more popular acts around town, and if you check them out, you’ll see why. They play some classic blues and Americana and really put their own signature on the songs. That show goes off at 6 p.m. There is no cover for any of the shows at the pub.
Olive & Vine will have the sounds of Cynthia Tarr and the Guys tonight, July 23, for what will be the last show for a while with the whole band. Seems some members are going out on the road with other acts for a bit. Tarr will still be there monthly, with a variety of different players. Showtime is 7 p.m.
Imagery Estate Winery will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, July 24, with the Jami Jamison band. There will be food, wine, and even cupcakes at the show that kicks off at 1 p.m. The event itself starts at noon. Reservations are recommended by calling 877-550-4278.
Benziger Family Winery will have the Cork Pullers on Sunday, July 25, for a 1 p.m. show. The band plays a nice selection of songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
The El Verano Inn will have the Dave Armour band tonight, July 23, for a 9 p.m. show. The band features Nick Cordellos on drums. There is no cover.
Nick Cordellos has also put together a pick-up band that will be at Little Switzerland on Saturday, July 24, that he calls the Nick Nacks and features Adrian Trevino. The band will be playing blues and classic rock. Showtime is 9 p.m.
Jess Petty and Ken Chambers will be at the Ledson Lounge on the Plaza tonight, July 23, at 6 p.m.
The Lodge at Sonoma has Jonathan Alford in the lounge tonight, July 23, starting at 7 p.m.
The gazebo at the Sonoma Marketplace will have Jon Popenoe and Tom Wolfe today, July 23, for a show that starts at 5 p.m.
Landmark Winery and Vineyards has the jazz sounds of Laurent Fourgo on Saturday, July 24, for a 1 p.m. show.
Saddles continues their afternoon music in the veranda this Sunday, July 25, with music from the Jazz Roots trio for a 4 p.m. start time.
Jon Popenoe will be at the Big 3 Diner on Monday, July 26, for a solo performance that starts at 7 p.m.
Mark your calendar for next Tuesday, July 27, when it’s time for the annual City Party, sponsored by the Rotary Club and the Sonoma Community Center, which will feature the dance band Crossfire. The stage will be behind City Hall with plenty of room to dance on the lawn.
EZ Kewl will be at the Schellville Grill on Saturday, July 24, for a 7 p.m. show. You can catch them tonight, July 23, over in Petaluma at the Apple Box for a 6 p.m. show.
Many local acts are out on the road this weekend, with the Hellhounds over in Napa at Uva Trattoria on Saturday, July 24, for an 8 p.m. show.
Wildflower Weed will be playing the Mayflower Pub in San Rafael on Sunday, July 25, as part of a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The band plays from noon to 2 p.m.
Points North, featuring local guitar virtuoso Eric Barnett, will be at Slim’s in San Francisco on Sunday, July 25, for an 8 p.m. show. Also on the bill are the Memorials.
Jason Bodlovich will be spending both days this weekend, July 24 – 25, at Bella Winery in Healdsburg for all-day shows that kick off at 11 a.m. and go till 4 p.m.
The Jon Popenoe duo will be at St. Clement Vineyards in Napa on Sunday, July 25, as part of the Vineyard Summer Music Series. Popenoe takes the stage at 6 p.m.
