Welcoming 2011 to Sonoma Valley with music

Sonoma Valley is saying goodbye to 2010 in grand style tonight, Dec. 31, with options ranging from a glitzy celebration for charity, to several no cover events. The showcase event of the Valley has to be the appearance of regional act, dance band extraordinaire Pride and Joy at the Lodge at Sonoma in the big top tent as a benefit for the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance. The evening includes a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, a unique auction, champagne at midnight and of course, dancing. Local crooner, the Sonoma Sinatra, also known as Stan Pappas, will be paying tribute to the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra, tonight, Dec. 31, for a 7 p.m. show at the Meritage Martini and Oyster Bar. There is no cover for the show, but reservations are required and the regular dinner menu will be served. For reservations, call 938-9430.

Noche Tropical will be providing a night of authentic Mexican music with a seven piece band at La Casa Restaurant tonight, Dec. 31, kicking off at 9:30 p.m. You may have caught the act at this years Cinco de Mayo party at the venue, playing cumbias, corridos, boleros, zapateados, and more. There is no cover for the show.

Dana Land and her quartet will be in the Lodge at Sonoma’s Gallery Lounge tonight, Dec. 31, for an evening of jazz with a band that features Jonathan Alford, John Hoy and Jeff Sanford. The evening, which kicks off at 9:30 p.m., includes a champagne toast at midnight. The $25 entrance fee is waived if you dine at the Carneros Bistro and Wine Bar that evening. Prime Rib and Black Cab will be the line-up at the Moose Lodge tonight, Dec. 31, with the former being the entree, and the latter being the entertainment. The event has a sit down dinner planned with appetizers all night, and a champagne toast at midnight. The Ledson Lounge showcases the return of the popular Jess Petty and Ken Chambers tonight, Dec. 31, who entertained crowds all summer long at the lounge. The show kicks off at 8 p.m.

The El Verano Inn has Fast Corky and the Hubcaps for the annual New Years Eve party tonight, Dec. 31, now going on their 12th year. The no cover evening features a champagne toast at midnight and appetizers throughout the evening. The show starts at 9 p.m.

The Olde Sonoma Public House has the sounds of Dan Martin and the Noma Rocksteady Band tonight, Dec. 31, for a New Years celebration that kicks off at 9 p.m. There is no cover.

Murphy’s Irish Pub will be celebrating twice today, Dec. 31, with a celebration of New Years in Ireland starting at 3 p.m. with the Celtic Fusion sounds of Greenhouse. Later in the evening, the Carrtunes take the snug over for a celebration that kicks off at 9 p.m. Hunt has confirmed there will be enough Guinness.

Steiners Tavern will be spinning tunes with DJ Sweet Lou tonight, Dec. 31, for an evening that kicks off at 9 p.m. Owner Paul Spadaro will have the dinner menu available throughout the evening. There is no cover.

The Big 3 Diner will have Don Trotta and Chris Caselli on guitars tonight, Dec. 31, kicking off at 7 p.m.

Showcase the Band will be out of town tonight, Dec. 31, at the Petaluma Veterans Hall for the annual New Years party. The evening includes dinner, party favors and a midnight buffet. Last years event sold out. For tickets and info, call Dorothy at 762-6002.

Andrew Freeman will be back in town Saturday, Jan. 1, at Murphy’s Irish Pub for an evening of sizzling guitar licks. The show goes off at 8 p.m.

The Hellhounds will also be on the road on Saturday, Jan. 1, to Santa Rosa at A’Roma Roasters for an 8:30 p.m. start.
