Songwriters in the round at Deerfield Ranch

Four singer-songwriters, two of them local, will get together Sunday, Feb. 14, for an evening of music in the caves at Deerfield Ranch Winery. Pete Olson and Natasha James will be joined by Michael O’Neill and Jeffery Halford in the show which is modeled after the ones done by Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt. Officially billed as “Wine & Roses: Songwriters in the Round/A Valentine’s Evening In The Caves,” the event will also be raising funds for the Kenwood marsh and the entire show will be streamed live over the internet and recorded in HD video. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. and tickets are only available by going to www.deerfieldranch.com. Deerfield Ranch Winery is at 10200 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood.

There still may be tickets left at the door tonight, Feb. 12, for Vinolivo at the Lodge at Sonoma in the Stone Room. The Steve Dudgeon quartet will be providing the entertainment, which kicks off at 6 p.m.

The El Dorado Kitchen will have the John Kaleen group tonight, Feb, 12. This will be the bands first show by the fireplace in the lounge. The band plays upbeat versions of jazz standards. Showtime is 6:30 p.m

Olive & Vine will have the John Burdick Band playing acoustic tonight, Feb. 12, and we mean really. Cliff Hugo will be playing a stand-up bass and drummer Dave McKee will be on congas. Burdick may also have a trick or two up his sleeve. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and there is no cover.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley will be holding its annual Sweetheart Auction on Saturday, Feb. 13, and the attendees will be dancing to the sounds of Crossfire. You may remember the band from the City party two years ago and rumor has it they will be back again this year. The event will be at the club and kicks off at 5 p.m.

The Ledson Hotel will have the Jess Petty duo in the lounge tonight, Feb. 12. Show starts at 6 p.m.

There will be drums and dancing at the Vintage House senior center on Saturday, Feb. 13, for an event that will benefit Haiti. The event will feature the earthy sounds of the djembe drum and dance to Afro-Haitian styles taught by Karen Devaney. The proceeds will go to the Haitian Health Foundation and kicks off at 11 a.m. For more info, call 360-8795.

Showcase the Band will be playing a sweetheart dance at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, Feb. 13. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with no-host cocktails and the band hits the stage at 8 p.m. For tickets, call 996-3877.

Dana Land and Jonathan Poretz will be at the Plaza Bistro tonight, Feb. 12, for a Valentines Day celebration that will feature Lands vocals. Showtime is 7 p.m.

Rumors that local rockers Astral Kitchen have broken up are not true, according to drummer Chris Blackard. Acknowledging that there have been some line-up changes, as has happened before in the bands 20-year run, band leader Blackard was quoted “our new CD is trying some very different styles of music, and will probably not be as rockin’ as our last effort was.” Look for the CD to be released soon.

The Hellhounds are on the road this weekend starting tonight, Feb. 12, at Jasper O’Farrels in Sebastopol for an 8:30 p.m. show. Saturday, Feb. 13, has the boys over in the big valley of Napa at Uva Trattoria for an 8:30 kick off. Both shows are no cover.

EZ Kewl is also on the road for a show at A’Roma Roasters on Saturday, Feb. 13, for an 8:30 p.m. show.

The Jami Jamison band will be doing a Valentines Day show on Feb. 14, at the Aqus Cafe in Petaluma, for an afternoon set that kicks off at 1 p.m. There is no cover.

Landmark Vineyards and Winery continues its Complimentary Concert series on Saturday, Feb. 13, with an appearance by Adam Traum, inside the tasting room by the fireplace. Showtime is 1 p.m.

The Plaza Bistro will have the duo of Allison Scull and Victor Martin for an evening of jazz, folk, Latin and blues on Saturday, Feb. 13, for a 6:30 p.m. show.

Murphy’s Irish Pub has traditional Celtic music tonight, Feb. 12, from Kith and Kin. Saturday, Feb. 13, brings one of Northern Californias premier bluegrass bands to the pub. High Country will be in the snug for a night of bluegrass classics. Shows both nights go at 8 p.m.

Jon Popenoe will be taking his blues act on the road to Brixx in Petaluma on Saturday, Feb. 13, for a 9 p.m. show.

Jason Bodlovich will be the opening act at Hopmonk in Sebastopol on Saturday, Feb. 13. Bodlovich and his band hit the stage at 8 p.m. Check the Hot 45s for the headliner of the night.

The Lodge at Sonoma will have vibraphonist Yancie Taylor and his quartet on Saturday, Feb. 13, for a 7 p.m. show. There is no cover.

Sunday, Feb. 14, is Valentines Day and there is plenty of local music out on the town. Showcase the band will be at Little Switzerland for an early evening show that kicks off at 5 p.m. The show is a couples celebration and all couples who met at Little Switzerland are invited to attend and be honored. BackTrax rock band will be doing an acoustic show at Steiners Tavern at 6 p.m. There is no cover. David Aguilar and Peter McCauley will be at Murphy’s Irish Pub for an evening show that starts at 6 p.m., playing everything except Celtic music. Mad and Eddie Duran will be doing a show at the Sonoma Community Center as part of the “Meet the Musician” series for a 3 p.m. show. For tickets and more info, call 938-4626. Dana Land and Jeff Massanari will be at the Lodge at Sonoma for an evening of love songs. Showtime is 7 p.m.
