Soundbytes – Sonoma Youth Soccer Oktoberfest

For the second year in a row and what seems to be turning into an annual event, the Sonoma Youth Soccer Association is presenting “Oktoberfest” on Saturday, Oct. 1, kicking off at noon, and this time it’s on the Sonoma Plaza. The day will feature music from a number of local youth acts and headlined again by the Rudy Columbini and the Unauthorized Rolling Stones. The music schedule looks like this:

Outrun the Sun. 12:45 p.m.
the Trips. 1 p.m.
Burned Out Lights. 1:15 p.m.
Cannon Faculty Band. 1:30 p.m.
Radar. 2:15 p.m.
School of Rock Performers. 2:30 p.m.
Unauthorized Rolling Stones. 3:15 p.m.
Radar. 4:30 p.m.
Unauthorized Rolling Stones. 5:15 p.m.

The Oktoberfest will also feature plenty of food and drink options, games for children and, of course, soccer throughout the day. The festival-type celebration will feature local vendors and other community-based organizations. The day wraps up with a semi-pro soccer game at Arnold Field featuring the Sonoma Sol, with much of the proceeds of the ticket sales from the game going to benefit the associations goal of building all-weather soccer fields in Sonoma, as well as their annual financial aid program, ensuring that all youth who want to play soccer throughout the year have an opportunity to do so, regardless of their ability to pay.

There is no charge for the festival event on the Plaza during the day and families are encouraged to attend and find out more about the youth soccer organization. More info can be found at sonomasoccer.org
