Soundbytes – New Years Eve Rundown

Another year gone by already, and this one was a doozy for many reasons. This is the time where we thank all who read the column and go out and support live-local music, so again, thank you.

We’ve got the local rundown for New Years Eve for you; mind you many of these are ticketed events or require reservations, so check that out before you head out.

El Verano Inn, 705 Laurel Ave. El Verano, 935-0611
Tilted Halos, Wildflower Weed and Fred and Jackie. 8 p.m. Tilted Halos play a nice variety of classic hard rock along with some original songs as well. WildFlower Weed plays what they describe as “Hippie Mountain Music.” Fred and Jackie are the founders of the band Acoustic Soul and will be playing as a duo.

Starling Bar, 19380 Sonoma Hwy., Sonoma, 938-7442
Jamie Clark Band. 9:30 p.m. Jaime Clark is a singer-songwriter and a fine one at that. Clark has recorded albums in Nashville and worked with John Capek, who has worked with Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross and more.

The Reel (formerly Rossi’s), 401 Grove St. El Verano, 343-0044
Dan Martin plus DJ JazCat. 9 p.m. Dan Martin usually has his full band Noma Rocksteady with him, but will be playing his upbeat reggae-inspired songs as a duo on this night.

HopMonk Tavern, 691 Broadway Sonoma, 935-9100
Dirty Cello. 9 p.m. Led by cellist Rebecca Roudman, Dirty Cello is just about everything but a classical music act, playing unique renditions of songs from almost every genre, including a cover of “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix.

Murphy’s Irish Pub, 464 First St. E. Sonoma, 935-0660
The Gentlemen Soldiers. 3 p.m. The Carrtunes. 9 p.m. The pub continues it’s tradition of kicking off the new year at midnight Dublin Ireland time and again at midnight California time. The Gentleman Solders are a tribute to the Irish punk-folk act the Pogues. The Carrtunes handle the late show, with excellent harmonies and acoustic songs you will be singing along to in no time.

Ramekins Culinary School, 450 W. Spain St, Sonoma, 933-0450
The French Disconnection. 8 p.m. DJ Jeremy Sommier will be spinning the discs for your dancing pleasure until midnight.

Sonoma Speakeasy and American Music Hall, 452 First St. E. ste. G. Sonoma, 996-1364
3 on a Match. 8 p.m. With the tagline “From Dylan to Delta” this acoustic act plays just about everything in between. “Smokin” Joe and “Steelhead” Cristopoulos will be laying down the blues all night long.

B&V Whiskey Bar and Grille, 400 First St. E. Sonoma, 938-7110
DJ Cal. 9 p.m.

Flamingo Lounge, 2777 4th St, Santa Rosa, 545-8530
Crossfire. 8 p.m. If you want to get off the island just a little, Crossfire is a large multi-piece dance band. You may recall them from the City Party a couple years back.
